About

30 Years of Excellence

The Hearing Healthcare Providers of Arizona (HHPA) is the nonprofit, professional association that represents Hearing Instrument Dispensers, Specialists, and Audiologists in Arizona.  Members are engaged in the practice of testing human hearing and selecting, fitting and dispensing hearing instruments.  As one of fifty-four state and provincial chapters affiliated with the International Hearing Society, HHPA continues to recognize the need for promoting and maintaining the highest possible standards for its members in the best interest of the consumer.

As the membership organization for, and of, independent specialists, HHPA conducts programs in competency accreditation, education and training, and promotes specialty-level certification for its members.

Consumer Advocacy

HHPA is an active leader in consumer advocacy for the hearing impaired.  An example is our national association’s Hearing Aid Helpline.  Each year, hundreds of individuals and families are assisted by the Helpline through a variety of services, at no cost to the consumer.  The Helpline provides a referral service for locating qualified hearing healthcare professionals.  While the Helpline does not provide direct financial assistance, it is able to provide guidance to potential financial resources.  Additionally, the Helpline mediates consumer complaints.   Throughout its history, HHPA has also sought to establish and foster ongoing dialogues with other associations, such as those representing senior citizens, in an attempt to promote greater public awareness and understanding of the benefits of hearing instrumentation.

Membership Profile

As a condition of membership, HHPA members must pledge to abide by the International Hearing Society’s Code of Ethics.  The Code sets standards of professional integrity and practice, including relationships with patients, colleagues and the general public, as well as rules governing advertising.

Code of Ethics

The code of ethics of the society shall be the laws of the State of Arizona and the rules and regulations of the Arizona Department of Health Services which apply to the conduct of licensed hearing aid dispensers.

As a member in good standing of the Hearing Healthcare Providers of Arizona, I further pledge that:

I will recommend the purchase of a hearing aid only in those cases in which the customer will benefit from its use.

I will maintain a permanent office, open on a regular schedule and that it shall be equipped with adequate testing facilities.

In the event that I am unable to reach a mutually-agreeable financial settlement with a dissatisfied client, I will advise the client to submit the dispute in writing to the president of the Hearing Healthcare Providers of Arizona within 90 days of the purchase of arbitration, and I will abide by the findings of the society. In addition, the members of the Hearing Healthcare Providers of Arizona as a group, do hereby certify that any monetary decision in favor of a client shall be guaranteed by the Hearing Healthcare Providers of Arizona.

I will insure that the provisions listed above are applied to all transactions made by anyone employed by me who may not himself be a HHPA member.
